Homily for 30th Sunday, Year C

Sir 35:12-14, 16-18; 2nd Tm 4:6-8,16-18; Lk 18:9-14

… do you leave His presence, justify or not

 

Dearly beloved, permit me to spend yet another week reflecting on another dimension of how we can obtain the fruits of our prayer. That is what I believe we are being introduced to in the gospel. One ingredient to a good prayer whether private or communal is humility.

Amos 6:1, 4-7,   1 Timothy 6:11-16,   Luke 16:19-31

 

Dearly Beloved, there is this story of a University Professor who was travelling by boat, and few minutes after sail, he asked sailor, "Do you know Biology? Ecology? Geography? Morphology? Zoology? The sailor answered "No" to all of these. And the professor got angry and replied, “What do you know on earth? You will die of illiteracy."

Dearly Beloved, I once bought a candy for a little boy and rather than thank me for the gift, he was asking me why I bought that brand and not another. At times, like this boy, we are hardly satisfied with what we get that we often forget to give thanks.
