Homily for 16th Sunday in ordinary time

Dearly beloved, we thank God who by his mercies has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavens. We thank him who has made it possible for us to gather in his presence as one big family. We recall in the book of Genesis; chapter 12 when God chose Abraham and the Jewish nation from among all nations. Homily for the 13th Sunday in ordinary

2nd Corinthians

Dearly beloved, two weeks ago, while celebrating fathers’ day, I used the occasion to encourage you to read the Second letter of St. Paul to the Corinthians. I hope, definitely not all, but some, took the opportunity with the background we looked at to read. I did say we will take time again this Sunday to give a summary to the rest of the book. Those who did read will find additional insight to many of the things you have read already.

Homily on the Solemnity of the Nativity of John the Baptist.

Homily on the Lord’s Ascension./ Mothers Day

Dearly Beloved, today we celebrate Christ’s Ascension into heaven.  The hope of what awaits all of us. His promise was where he is, there his servants will also be. The ascension is not the end of the earthly life of Christ but more importantly the completion of his mission on earth. He returns again in obedience to the will and plan of HIS FATHER.

Homily for the 5th Sunday of Easter

Dearly Beloved, as we come to the 5th Sunday of Easter, we are again presented with a very powerful image of the vine. This imagery is the last in a series of 7 “I AM” statements from our Lord.  (Does anyone know any such passages in the gospel of John where Jesus used an “I AM” statement). We can go through them now.

1.  ‘I am the bread of life. (John 6:35)

2.  ‘I am the light of the world. (John 8:12)

3. “I am the door. (John 10:9)
